Android L for Nexus: When Will It Arrive?
3 min read
The Android community is eagerly awaiting the launch of the Android L. However Nexus users are more than anxious and keen to see how the Android 5.0 L update will make user experience enjoyable. After all, updates that were foisted upon them by Google in the past have not had the impact that was desired.
Even now, there is no mention of the exact time when users of Nexus 4, 5, 7 and 10 would be able to enjoy the incremental update. Only estimation can be made taking into account previous Google launches. Google has been releasing Android updates two times in a year – around mid-summer and late fall. They have also been pushing out new Nexus handsets after each Android update.
Google Will Go The Apple Way
This time however, Google may go the Apple way. Apple used to release versions in summer, test for a few months before making these versions available to the public during fall. Going by that pattern, Google may release Android L in early November and that is when new Nexus hardware too may get launched. If you have already been hearing about the Nexus project Android Silver, then rest assured they were all rumors only. Google has squashed them saying the Nexus program will continue and even pushed a new Nexus tablet online to prove their point. There is also talk of a Nexus 6 smart phone and this one named Volantis would be produced by HTC with a 8.9 inch screen. The next Nexus smart phone however will have a 5.9 inch screen and produced by Motorola. The Nexus 6 is named Shamu and both these will sport the Android 5.0 L.The Biggest Update
The Android 5.0 L marks as the biggest update in recent times and speculation is rife that it may be named Lollipop or some other dessert name, given Google’s penchant for such names. The update is much bigger than the transition made by Google from Gingerbread to the Ice Cream version. Android 5.0 L with its Material Design promises a much friendlier interface, better colors, creative animations and more joy for the user in terms of 3D shadows and other effects. System performance which was thought to be slow with lag times will get a boost as the Dalvik runtime would be replaced with ART. The changes which Android 5.0 L will bring are therefore not only visually engaging but will enhance user experience totally from the perspective of smart phone usage itself. Even the status bar for instance will have a makeover. While it will stay transparent during display of the home as well as lock screens, it will change color depending on what application is currently running on screen to match it.Good Times Ahead For Nexus Users
The Android 5.0L update for the Nexus 4, 5, 7 and 10 promises a lot and they would be able to enjoy it before others. The Google Play Experience and Motorola smart phones will follow these gadgets as both HTC and One Plus announced that their devices would have the Android 5.0L version within 3 months of Google sending the final code. One Click Root Author
