Google Employees Running Android L On Nexus
3 min read
The developer preview of Android L had raised a lot of expectations and questions. They related to what it name would it finally have, when would it be launched and which of the OEMs would be able to upgrade first?
Doubts About Nexus 4 Misplaced
Despite the Android L being a Google initiative, users of Nexus 4 also began to have doubts if their phones would get the final version of Android L. Their doubts would have got allayed to some extent with this news that some of the Google employees were running the Android L on the Nexus 4. This would mean that the Nexus 4 is very much capable of running Android L and they need not have any fears about forcibly upgrading to the Nexus 5 or 7 in order to run this new OS from Google. To a great extent, the fears were unjustified as Google had made it clear that even cheaper Motorola as well as Android One models would be able to run the Android L. The Nexus 4 was not one of the devices used during the developer preview of the Android L, which was run on Nexus 5 and 7. That may have sparked off the doubts in the minds of Nexus 4 users. But now that there have been reports of Google employees testing the Nexus 4 for Android L and posting their experiences on the Chromium forum, it should be sufficient confirmation for existing Nexus 4 users that they would be among the first to receive the upgrade.Speculation About The Name Continues
Meanwhile, the speculation about what the Android L would be ultimately named continues. The latest one doing the rounds is it would be named the Android 5.0 “Lemon Meringue Pie”, or the LMP. There have been names alluded to it earlier as well but in the absence of anything announced from Google, the speculation game continues. The date of its release though has not been under much speculation and many believe it should be in the month of October.High Expectations From The Android L
There is no speculation however with regard to the high expectations people have from the Android L. After the preview, a lot has been written about the new and path breaking Material Design that Google is bringing to the table. This OS version is like nothing ever before and promises to enhance battery life as well as improve user experience manifold. Chrome, the default browser too has been upgraded and with the many interface changes also carried out, Android users can look forward to a more intuitive experience, thanks to the icons, tiles and animations that will now embellish the Android L. The Dalvik runtime too has been abandoned by Google and they have gone for the ART 64-bit that will speed up the performance many times over due to more RAM now available. So whether it is the Nexus 4 or other models, the next big event to look forward to is the release of the Android L.One Click Root Author
