Top Android Fitness Apps and The Google Fitbit Update
3 min read
It is the age of fitness apps and Google is making the best out of it, coming up with an update to the Google Fit app. This update is not for the Smartphone app but only for the Android wear one.
So what is the update all about?
Now the users of Android Wear can monitor, stop and start their activity trackers from their smart watch itself, thanks to the new Activity screen. The “Start Activity” page is the one you see now instead of the “Start Challenge” one and you will get this by just swiping from the left to the fifth screen of the app. You also have new options in running, biking and walking. Trigger the countdown timer by just tapping on the smart watch display and you also have the options to pause or stop the timer. Users can track the workout statistics like calories burnt, distance covered, the duration of their activity and the steps covered using three different options. Many features in a short time on the Google Fit
When in ambient mode, you can see the Activity screen still lit up and it will be the watch face till you actually exit the app or stop the activity. Google Fit then gives you the summary of the activity and now thanks to the update, this app will immediately detect when the user is into activities like push-ups, squats and sit-ups. It will also integrate with apps of nutrition and sleep for a totally holistic snapshot of your health status. The Google Fit update now has the personal trainer app, the home screen widget, digital watch face that is interactive along with weekly as well as monthly summary views. All this is quite an addition in such a short time since November last year.Fitness apps, the new attractions in Android
Google Fit is the not the only app. Others such as Runkeeper, Runtastic, and Map My Fitness Workout Trainer to name a few are the ones that are being downloaded by users to monitor their fitness routine. Runkeeper allows you to get your jogging schedule mapped and you can also set targets to achieve the levels of fitness you desire. It gives you the calories burnt and distance you have covered and should you use the bike or gym, you can get details related to those activities as well. The Runtastic is more suited for regular runners with the app displaying results in 3D. The stats cover distance, the speed, heart rate during running and cycling exercises. It also has the voice coach goading and motivating you during the workout and you can even customize a diary as per your workout schedule. The Map My Fitness Workout Trainer is ideal for multiple activities – both indoor and outdoor. It collects and collates stats from all the activities the user has undergone to present a snapshot. There are other apps like Strava, the 7 Minute Workouts and the Endomondo Running Cycling Walk and all of them present work out details nicely to the user. One Click Root Author
