Want to Look Really Silly When Using your Android? Try the Bizarre Galaxy W
2 min read
When I first saw the picture of the Galaxy W, I legitimately thought it was a joke picture created by Apple fans to make fun of how large Android devices have become.
Unfortunately, the Galaxy W is a real Android device that takes smartphones to a whole new dimension: 7 inches.
The Galaxy W officially blurs the lines between smartphones and tablets. Announced by Samsung earlier this week, the Galaxy W has quickly been nicknamed the “Galaxy WTF” due to its bizarrely large size and massive form factor.
The picture above looks silly enough. And that’s a professional photo shoot with real photo models. Think of how silly people will look walking down the street trying to use one of these behemoths. People will start looking around for hidden cameras thinking they’re on some prank show.
Anyways, here are the Galaxy W’s technical specifications, which are strangely weak for its large size:
-7 inch display with 1280x720 resolution
-8MP camera/ 2MP front-facing camera
-3,200 mAh battery
-Black, red, and white color options
-Runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean
-1.2GHz processor with 1.5GB of RAM
-1.5GB RAM
-16GB storage (support for 64GB microSD card)
-Multi-window and split-screen support
The only way the Galaxy W makes sense is if it caters to the elderly and those with weak eyesight. But based on the advertisement shown above, that’s not who the Galaxy W is trying to advertise to at all.
Fortunately for us easily-offended North Americans, the device is only slated for release in South Korea and will never see the light of day outside of that county.
What’s the point of the Galaxy W? I really don’t know. We’ll see how well it sells in South Korea.
