Stable Release of CyanogenMod 10.1.2 Now Available for Download
2 min read
The latest update to CyanogenMod has now officially been classified as ‘stable’. The stable release of CyanogenMod 10.1.2 just launched and it brings a number of small tweaks and improvements – as well as one gigantic security feature - to the world’s most popular custom ROM for rooted Androids.
Based on the Android 4.2.2 operating system, CyanogenMod 10 has enjoyed remarkable success and its popularity grows with each stable release. More Android users have installed the CyanogenMod 10.1.2 custom ROM than any other custom ROM in the world today.
CM 10.1.2 brings the following changes:
-Master Key security tweak, which patches an error that leaves 99% of all Android users vulnerable to malware. Google added this to stock ROMs earlier this year but other Androids were left unprotected.
-Performance enhancements, bug fixes, etc.
This is a small CM patch but it’s an important one to install as soon as possible. The Master Key security feature was only recently discovered by Android security researchers, and that was after Google had supposedly patched the error back in February. The exploit allows malicious apps to take control of your system so it is definitely a bad one.
The stable release is currently available for all US-based Samsung Galaxy S3 versions as well as the Galaxy S and Galaxy S2 19100/19100G. About 50 other devices are also officially supported, and you can check support for your device here and download the update – just download the version of CM under your device’s listing.
