Google Bans Facial Recognition Apps on Google Glass

Google will need to carefully manage Google Glass and its apps if it wants it to be successful. If it allows too many porn apps, then Google Glass will be known as the best way to watch porn in public. If Google allows lots of And apparently, Google has decided to ban facial recognition apps to preemptively avoid any privacy complaints. After all, walking around with a high-powered camera device on your face at all times of the day was bound to unsettle a few people. Well, Google’s ban on facial recognition apps should put some of those complaints to rest. Here’s the company’s official statement on the matter: Most will agree that banning facial recognition apps is probably a good thing, since facial recognition devices on people’s faces would lead to all sorts of scary apps, like: -An app that tells you whether you’re staring at a celebrity or just a normal person -An app that identifies the people you meet and links you to their Facebook page before you even get to the handshake -An app that identifies potential dates as you’re walking down the street and automatically pokes them for you -An app that identifies potential enemies as you’re walking down the street and automatically pokes them for you Not to mention the fact that having a facial recognition app on our faces at all times would basically remove the need for our brains to ever function. Why remember what your girlfriend’s face looks like if that face is stored in your Google Glass? Anyways, don’t expect to be downloading any facial recognition apps onto your Google Glass in the near future – unless, of course, you decide to root it.
