Check Out This Unicorn Google Play Store Easter Egg
2 min read
Unicorns aren’t real, but you wouldn’t know that if you looked at the Google Play Store.
Reddit user rabidgremlin recently discovered an interesting Google Play Store Easter Egg.
Specifically, if you leave the Search bar blank and click the ‘Search’ button, the Store will display results as if you typed in unicorn.
Your results will vary based on your location. I see apps like Fluffy Unicorn, Unicorn Pet, and Unicorn Run alongside G2 Xposed (for whatever reason).
I also see multiple books about unicorns, including Madeleine L’Engle’s “The Young Unicorn”.
Anyways, Google loves its Easter Eggs. I’m not sure how long this Easter Egg has been around or how long it’s going to last, but Google sure does have a sense of humor.
I’m still confused as to why G2 Exposed is appearing in the search listing. When you visit the G2 Xposed page, there are absolutely no mentions of unicorns. Maybe Google just wanted to promote one of the most popular root-only apps?
One of the best things to come out of this topic was this comment from JesterRaiin:
Reddit’s r/Android community didn’t appreciate the humor – which probably struck a little too close to home. I liked it.
