The iPhone 6 Features Most Android Smartphones Already Have

3 min read
The iPhone 6 is uncannily similar to the Google Nexus 4 with regard to features. It is also similar to other Android phones when it comes to build quality as well as body. The hype surrounding the launch of iPhone 6 and expectations have been quite high and the danger is people writing it off right at its launch.

Certain Features Score Over Android

However, it is not all gloom for Apple. The iPhone 6 boasts of a better body build as compared to some of the lower end Android phones that have plastic instead of metal. Its camera has a top quality light sensor and its LTE connectivity with better Wi-Fi speed is a definite plus over Android phones. But it must be said that Apple seems to be losing its sheen. There have been times when it was seen as the trend setter and others would just do well to follow it. Those times now seem a distant memory as you look at the iPhone 6 looking very much like a glorified Nexus 4 with a metal body. The iPhone will have tough competition as it is not a device that is streets ahead of any of the average Android phones. Apple will continue to be seen as a brand that stands for premium products at high prices but no longer as innovative as before.

Features Android Phones Have

NFC or Near Field Communication is something that Apple announced its iPhone 6 and 6 Plus would have. However, this feature that enables the user to transfer files and helps in making mobile payments with one touch has been in Android phones of Google and LG since 2011 and is nothing novel. Then you have the Apple Pay Wallet which again is nothing but Google Wallet in a more refined avatar. Whether Apple will make this available in North America where Google Wallet does not work currently remains to be seen. Bigger screens are no longer something to be awestruck by. Google Android spawned a whole series of smart phones with screen sizes that are in the 4.5 inches to 6 inches range. The iPhone6 with its 4.7 inch screen is bigger than previous models but hardly an attraction that will motivate consumers to buy it only for the bigger screen size. Screen resolution too of the iPhone 6 is not something that Android users are not accustomed to either as in the high end phones, they have been enjoying similar resolution screens. Android users have also been using custom keyboards as well as widgets for some years now and therefore the QuickType feature in the Apple phone is not going to excite many of them. Widgets have been a part of the Android ecosystem for some time now. Though Apple touted its health apps and their ability to synchronize with the impending Apple Watch during the press conference recently, its impact remains to be seen. It is clear from the above that the iPhone 6 and 6 plus may not cause the ripples that earlier Apple products caused.
